MADILL  - Services for Edith Louise Dowdy. 82 of  Madill, Will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2007, in Watts Memorial Chapel. Madill, with Bryan Church offciating.

Interment will follow in the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery, Madill, under the direction of Watts Funeral Home and Crematory Services.


Edith was born on July 21, 1924, to John McHugh and Mae Renfrow McHugh in Chickasha. She was raised in Chickasha and later moved to Ada. In 1960, she moved to Madill, Where she lived for the rest Of her life. Edith married James Clark Dowdy on June 4, 1944, in Decatur, Texas. He preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1980. Together they owned and operated the Dowdy Hotel, Dowdy shoe store. the Dowdy Hardware and Furniture and Main Liquor Store. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ada and the B&PW. Edith enjoyed being with her great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents. one son. John Dowdy; one brother. three sisters and one grandson. 

Survivors include daughters. Dana Jo Self. Madill and Jamie and Dan Orr. Madill; five grandchildren, Susie and Bryan Church , Broken Arrow, Tracy and Bobby Szenasi. Madill, Toby and Chad Coble. Madill , Brook and Dusty Pruitt. Madill. Justin Dowdy. Dallas and seven great-grandchildren. 

Casket bearers are Landon Church, Bobby Szenasi, Dusty Pruitt, Chad Coble, Mike Gable. Clark Gable and Mark Honea.
