West New Hopedale Cemetery


The funeral for Marie E. Jantz Pekrul, 80, will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Zoar Mennonite Church, Goltry. Pastor Gary Eastin will officiate. Burial will be in West New Hopedale Cemetery, Ringwood. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m today at the funeral home. Arrange-ments are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

She was born June 13, 1927, in Ringwood, to Sam and Lena Johnson Smith and died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, in Enid.

She married George Jantz Jan. 27, 1944, at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno. They made their home on a farm near Meno. She worked as a cook in several restaurants until 1975. They moved to Ringwood, where they worked as school custodians. She retired from Ringwood school after 17 years. He died in June 1987.

She married Orval Pekrul April 16, 1994, at West New Hopedale Mennonite Church, north of Ringwood. She made her home in Goltry, where she attended Zoar Mennonite Church and was a life member of West New Hopedale Mennonite Church.

Surviving are her husband, Orval, of the home; four daughters, Cherryl Davis of Lahoma, Dianna Ratzlaff of Meno, Linda Nichols of Goltry and Mitzi Maddox of Lahoma; one son, Tim Jantz of Manchester; one stepson, Gary Pekrul of Enid; five sisters, Francis Milhime, Vivian Jantz, Beverly Strange, Naomi Turk and Charlene Berg; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, George, she was preceded in death by one sister, a stepdaughter and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the funeral home in the name of Marie Pekrul.
