Deceased Name: Vernon Unruh, 69, Lahoma

Graveside service will be Jan. 23 at 2:30 p.m. at Square Cedar Cemetery , located 7 miles west of Ringwood on Hwy 412, then 2 1/2 miles north, with Dan O'Daniel officiating. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Online condolences or memories may be shared at www.lanmanfuneralhomes.com.

Vernon Unruh was born the son of Milton and Sophena Schmidt Unruh on August 19, 1934 in Carnegie and passed from this life on January 19, 2005 at his residence in Lahoma. Vernon married Peggy Shoemaker on June 2, 1956 at Fairview and they made their home in Goltry, moving to Lahoma in 1970. Both he and Peggy were school custodians at Monroe Elementary School and Glenwood Elementary School in Enid and Lahoma Public Schools for many years. He was a wood crafter and had his own shop, Wood Creations, in Lahoma for eight years. He was a member of Lahoma Senior Citizens Club. His grandchildren were the love of his life

Vernon is survived by his wife, Peggy of Lahoma; his mother, Sophena Unruh of Eugene, Ore.; three sons, Greg Unruh and wife, Debra of Mustang, Lonnie Unruh and wife, Yvonne of Enid, Vernon Kent Unruh of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Sandra Wiens and husband, Bert of Lahoma, and Connie McMahan and husband, Troy of Meno; twelve grandchildren, Jessica, Cara, Barry, Ashley, Jonathan, Kandie, Melissa, Jered, Jamie, Hannah, Sarah and Jacob and three great grandchildren, Sierra, Rylan and Christopher; two sisters, Nelda Ann Curry of Florence, Ore., and Louise Unruh of Camp Verde, Ariz.; three brothers, Carl Unruh and wife, Jean of Eugene, Ore., Leonard Unruh and wife, Leslye of San Diego, Calif., and Marvin Unruh and wife, Olean of Eugene, Ore.; and one sister-in-law, Margaret of Lebennon, Ore.

He is preceded in death by his father, Milton Unruh, and one brother, Norman Unruh.

Memorials may be given to the Senior Citizen's Club of Lahoma through the funeral home.
