Funeral service for Joseph Darrell Morris will be Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at Followers of Christ Church, 4 miles west of Ringwood on Highway 412 and 4 ¾ miles north, with Jim Wallace and Clayton Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Square Cedar Cemetery. Viewing at the funeral home in Helena will be Monday 1:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and Tuesday 10:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M. Casket will be open before the service at the church on Wednesday.

Darrell was born December 16, 1935 on a farm in rural Kansas, near Argonia, to Joseph Marion Morris and Ida Mae Oakley Morris and passed from this life July 13, 2012 at his home in Enid. Darrell attended school in Harper County, Kansas in a one room school house. Later, in December 1951 at age 16, he was baptized into the Followers of Christ Church where he attended the rest of his life.

Darrell worked as a carpenter in Wichita, Kansas and later, helped build Union Equity Elevator in Enid. He ran a service station for a short time before being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served three years. On June 5, 1961 Darrell married Marjorie Ann Presley in Mobile, Alabama. In May 1963 he lost Ann and their son in childbirth. In 1964 Darrell married Margret Kay Turner in Moore, Oklahoma and soon adopted her five children. They lived in Moore, Lahoma and the Waukomis area before moving to Enid in 1978. He owned and operated the Trim Shop, Inc. from 1976 until he retired in 2000. In 1981 Darrell married Gay Carolyn Phillips in Enid, where they lived together the rest of his days.

Darrell is survived by Carolyn of the home; one son, Kevin of Diamondhead, Mississippi; four daughters, Paula and Kerry Butcher of Cartwright, Oklahoma, Charlotte and Mike Ricketts of Keller, Texas, Cynthia Christmas of Carney, Oklahoma and Cheryl Lakes of Kingston, Oklahoma; three stepdaughters, Kathy and Vernon Guthrie of Harrah, Oklahoma, Vicky and Roger Flaming of Lahoma, Oklahoma and Connie and Randy Franklin of Yukon, Oklahoma; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-four and one-half great grandchildren; five brothers, Ellis, Byron, Keith, Kenneth and Gary and one sister, Sheryl.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ann and infant son, Stanley; two brothers, Abraham and Isaiah; one sister, Anna and a grandson, Kevin Jr.
