May 8, 1958 ~ May 28, 2021

Douglas “Doug” Leroy Meister was born in Fairview, Oklahoma on May 8, 1958 to Harry and Clara Belle Simons Meister and passed from this earth on May 28, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Doug was a longtime resident of Ringwood and graduated high school there in 1976. After high school, Doug attended Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, followed by one year at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany. He then moved back to Ringwood and married his high school love, Linda Koehn, on April 5, 1980. Together, Doug and Linda had two sons, Matthew and Jarred Meister. Doug served at the First Baptist Church, and previously attended the Wesleyan Church in Ringwood. He had a passion for children and youth ministries, spending close to twenty years teaching children and young adults about Jesus. Doug loved his family, loved family gatherings, and particularly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife, Linda Koehn Meister; son, Jarred Meister and wife, Nadia; stepfather, Bois Farrington; sister, Sheryl Meister; brothers, Steve Meister and wife, Melinda, Scott Conaway and wife, Tammie and Kelly Conaway and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Mattie, Amira and Zane Meister; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doug is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Meister and Clara Belle Farrington; son, Matthew Meister and brother, Eldon Meister.

Celebration of Life Service for Doug will be Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Ringwood. Burial will follow in Square Cedar Cemetery near Cleo Springs. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Okeene. Viewing will be Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the funeral home in Okeene 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family present 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. www.lanmanmemorials.com Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Ringwood First Baptist Church Children’s Ministries through the funeral home.

Ringwood man dies of injuries sustained in May 4 accident

A Ringwood man has died due to complications from an accident that occurred in early May about a mile west of Enid, Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Monday.

Douglas Leroy Meister, 62, was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet pickup that was struck by another pickup at the intersection of U.S. 60 and Boomer Road at 10:45 a.m. May 4, 2021, according to OHP. Meister died Friday, May 28, at Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City, the OHP reported.

Linda Annette Meister, 62, of Ringwood was driving the 2000 Chevrolet east on U.S. 60 when a 2015 Chevrolet pickup southbound on Boomer Road, driven by Carl Raymond Mack, 84, of Drummond, failed to yield at a stop sign and struck Meister’s vehicle on the passenger side, according to OHP. Both Mack and Linda Meister were transported by helicopter to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, while Douglas Meister was transported to Integris Bass in Enid, according to the original OHP report.

OHP also reported the condition of both drivers was normal and the cause of the collision was failure to yield.
