Funeral service for Billy J. “Bill” Jeffries, 76, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Cleo Springs Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Square Cedar Cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Viewing will be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. www.lanmanmemorials.com.

Billy Joe Jeffries was born Feb. 4, 1935, in Cherokee, Okla., to Jess William and Velma Bain Jeffries. He passed from this life on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, in Enid, Okla., at the age of 76.

Service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at Cleo Springs Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow in Square Cedar Cemetery.

Bill grew up in the Aline and Cleo area and attended school at Elm Flat and Cleo Springs.

He married his high school sweetheart, Neva Marie Mitchell, on July 4, 1954, in Enid, Okla. They made their home on a farm in the Ringwood area but later moved to Enid.

Bill worked for Hackney Iron and Steel for 19 years. After moving back to the farm, he continued working and farming until retirement in 1997. Three children were born to Bill and Neva: Ricky Joe, Janet Ray and Marcy Lynette.

Bill is survived by his wife, Neva; one son and wife, Rick and Susan; two daughters, Janet Atchison and Marcy and Jeff Wichert; eight grandchildren, Jeff Davidson and Amber, Jeremy Jeffries, Jason Atchison, Levi Jeffries and Amanda, Zach Jeffries and Laci, Nicholas John and Mindy, Ashley Kitchen and T.J., and Jordan John; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess Jeffries and Velma Jeffries.

Memorials may be made to Cleo Springs Church of the Nazarene Children’s Ministries.
