The Memorial Service of Evelyn Edna Huebert, 88, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012. Burial will precede the memorial service at 9:30 p.m. at the Saron Mennonite Cemetery. Local arrangements are by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Evelyn was born July 7, 1923 near Henderson, NE. to Henry M. and Maria (Friesen) Epp. Her early years were spent on the farm. When she was young she helped with milking, shocking wheat or oats, and corn picking. After she was married, she was proud of the fact that she could milk a cow faster than her husband Frank!

Evelyn accepted the Lord as her Savior in March, 1942. In May, 1942 she was baptized and joined the Bethesda Mennonite Church, in Henderson, NE. She recognized her need of a savior while attending revival services at another church. Even while in high school she felt that someday she would be a pastor’s wife. Her favorite verse was Job 23:10 “But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

After graduating from Henderson High School in 1941 she worked as a nanny, cooking, baby sitting and cleaning house for a young family. Later she worked at a Hatchery and Meat Locker. While being employed she met Frank through an arranged meeting orchestrated by her brother’s mother-in-law, Frank’s aunt. For Evelyn it was love at first sight. Frank was a little slower, however. When she asked him to warm her hands, in an attempt to hold his hand, he told her to sit on them! As their relationship blossomed, Evelyn quit her job in Henderson so she could move to Lincoln to be closer to where Frank was stationed at the CPS camp. After they were married, they moved to Madrid, NE so that Frank could farm and ranch. While in western Nebraska two sons were born to them, Allen Wayne and Frank DuWayne.

In 1953 the family moved to Omaha, NE so Frank could attend Grace Bible Institute (Grace University). Evelyn also completed two years of college course work by attending night classes. Evelyn worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital as a nurse’s aide. After Frank graduated they moved to Wolf Point, MT where Frank was the pastor the United Mennonite Church from 1957 to 1963. While there, twin girls were born to them, Sharon Kay and Karen Renee.

In 1963, the family to moved to Orienta OK, where Frank served as pastor of the Saron Mennonite Church.

In 1971 Frank, Evelyn, Sharon and Karen moved to Elbing, KS where Frank taught Bible at Berean Academy and Evelyn worked in the cafeteria baking bread. After completing grade school Sharon and Karen attended and graduated from Berean Academy.

In 1978 Frank and Evelyn moved to Adam, OK where Frank was pastor of the Adams Mennonite Church. At each of churches Evelyn loved to teach young children and develop friendships with church members. She loved the babies the best.

In 1984 Frank and Evelyn retired from full-time ministry. At this time they moved to Fairview and bought their first house and together she and Frank remodeled and decorated it. During the next five years they did interim work at Martin Box, AR, Tulsa, OK, Shawnee, KS, and Topeka, KS. For nine years (1989-1998), Frank and Evelyn served as custodians of the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church.

In 1995, Frank and Evelyn had the privilege of touring Israel. They also made many other trips to Mexico and the Northeastern USA, with and to see family. She loved to sing. She and her younger sister would spend many hours singing through the hymn book and even did this as a mother, with her twins sitting and standing in the rocking chair with her. As an adult she sang in musical groups and loved teaching all her children to sing parts. Evelyn also enjoyed gardening, her flowers, and table games. Evelyn is well-known for her sharp and cunning skills at the game table making her a feared opponent. Ask Frank if he’s still carrying the score sheet in his wallet of time he won!

In February of 2011, Evelyn moved to the Fairview Fellowship Home. In April of 2011 Frank moved to the home so they could be together. She loved her time there being pampered. She loved the whole idea of having someone cook, clean and do laundry for her. And of course, having her hair and nails done!

Evelyn went home to be with the Lord and Savior on March 26, 2012, at the age of 88 years, 9 months, and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Maria Epp, a sister, Malita Friesen, and a brother, Wendell Epp.

She is survived by her husband, Frank, two sons, Allen and wife Jackie Huebert of Peoria, AZ and Frank Jr and wife ReNita Huebert of Fairview, OK., two daughters, Sharon and husband John Oglesbee of San Augustine, TX and Karen and husband Ivan Penner of Peoria, AZ, one sister, Estalean Quiring, 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Grace University or the Friends of Israel with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.

Services for Frank D. Huebert Sr., 97, of Fairview, will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church. He peacefully passed away, July 11, 2014 and the Fairview Regional Medical Center. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Frank D Huebert, Sr. of Fairview, Oklahoma reached Heaven’s gate and was welcomed into glory on 11 July, 2014 in Fairview, Oklahoma at the age of 97 years, one month, and one week. He was born to Jacob F. and Sara (Dick) Huebert at home near Lustre, Montana on 4 June, 1917. He was the 6th of 9 children.

Life was simple, with hard work, which taught him many skills and gave him many memories for his later years. He never tired of talking about Colonel, his very own horse, which his father gave him when he turned 16. Colonel was his loyal companion for many years. He also had several Border Collie dogs that were much more than working sheep dogs to him.

After graduating from the 8th Grade at Lustre Bible School, Frank helped with farming and was finally able to go to Frazer High School at the age of 21. The school Superintendent convinced Frank's dad that he needed further education. While attending school he and his younger sisters lived in a tar paper shack in Frazer, which was 30 miles from home. He was given a job helping the janitor to earn living expenses. He prided himself in receiving the Citizenship award as a Senior.

Following graduation, Frank spent several months in the Seattle area working in the steel foundries before joining the Civilian Public Service (CPS), an alternative service of national importance, as a conscientious objector during WWII. He worked for the Forest Service in Oregon and California. Later he was stationed in Lincoln, NE and helped with raising rabbits for food to help with expenses. He met a number of men who became lifetime friends, from as far away as some place called Fairview, OK. They became reacquainted when he and the family moved to Orienta in 1963.

It was during this time in Lincoln that he was introduced to Evelyn Edna Epp by his cousin Marie Huebert. A relationship began and during this time Evie moved to Lincoln to work so they could become better aquainted. On the day of his discharge from CPS, he and Evie were married in Henderson NE. The bond remained sure until his beloved passed away in March, 2012 after 66 years of marriage.

Frank and Evelyn farmed in Western Nebraska the first seven years of marriage. Although his first passion was farming and ranching he knew God had greater things for him. God’s will was for him to be a spiritual farmer, tilling the fertile soil of man’s heart and shepherding His flock. In preparation he attended Grace College of the Bible (Grace University) in Omaha, Nebraska. Upon graduation in 1957 they began their first pastorate in Wolf Point, Montana. In 1963 the family made a move to Orienta, Oklahoma where he pastored the Saron Mennonite Church. In 1971 they moved to Elbing, Kansas where he taught Junior High and Senior High Bible at Berean Academy. In 1978 they returned to the pastorate and served the Adams, Oklahoma Mennonite Church until 1984. At that time, they bought and remodeled the only earthly home they ever owned. Fairview became their home base as they did interim work for 5 years, and then took over the custodial duties at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church.

Throughout his life, Frank was a diligent student of the Word and was especially interested in prophecy. Another passion was the Old Testament tabernacle of which he made a scale model. He taught many weeklong special meetings at a number of churches through the years, and following full retirement, he continued to teach Bible on Wednesday evenings.

Frank and Evelyn's ministry took them many places and impacted many lives, with friends far and wide. Surely he said “Bless Your Heart” to many, many people he met along the way. If he didn’t have a chance to say it, it was prominently displayed as a bumper plate on the front of their car. It later became his ‘shingle’ on his room door at Fairview Fellowship Home.

Following full retirement, he continued to teach Bible on Wednesday evenings. Throughout his life, he was a diligent student of the Word and was especially interested in prophecy. Another passion was the Old Testament tabernacle of which he made scale models and taught many weeklong special meetings at a number of churches.

His hands made many wooden projects, with Evie's assistance in design and finishing, including furniture and gifts for newlyweds and others. A favorite past time was cutting and splitting firewood, which he continued to do until he was 93. He equally enjoyed feeding the wood into his fireplace and sometimes became overly zealous, with house temperatures soaring into the upper 80’s on a cold winter day!

Although he never was a man of physical wealth, he has stored up many heavenly treasures, as well as treasures in the hearts of his family and many friends. He will be missed as a brother, a father, grandpa, grospa, and a faithful friend.

Preceding him in death were his parents, 4 sisters and 3 brothers. He is survived by his sister, Anna Huebert of Glendive, Montana. Sons include Allen Huebert and wife Jackie of Bellevue, NE; Frank Jr. and wife ReNita of Fairview, OK. Twin daughters Sharon and husband John Oglesbee of San Augustine, TX; Karen and husband Ivan Penner of Peoria, AZ. There are 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, with two more on the way.

Not enough words can be spoken for the care he was given at the Fairview Fellowship Home where he was loved and cherished, and the Fairview Regional Medical Center where he spent the last few miles of his long journey.

Internment is at the Saron Mennonite Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Grace University with the Fairview Funeral Home of Fairview, OK acting as custodian.
