Saron Cemetery


The funeral for Elmer John Frantz, 86, of Fairview, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at Saron Mennonite Church, Orienta. The Rev. Arnold Curby will officiate. Burial will be in Saron Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements are by Nichols Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Fairview. Family visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Great Room of the Fairview Fellowship Home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1922, on the family farm north of Fairview to John A. and Tajalda Bisans and died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at Fairview Fellowship Home.

He attended Fairview schools and graduating from Fairview High School. He attended Tabor and Bethel colleges.

He married Carolyn Vera Mitchell Aug. 10, 1947, in Mechanic Falls, Maine. He was a farmer, raising wheat and cattle. He was active in Saron Mennonite Church, served on the meat canning committee, was a member of Oklahoma Bible Academy Board, Rural Water Board, and the Barber Shop Society of Enid. They moved to Fairview Fellowship Home Apartments in 2008 where they lived until his health began to fail.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn, of the home; his children, Barbara Eck of Bartlesville and Nelson Frantz of Aline; one sister, Margaret Peters of Myrtle Creek, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, three brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home, P.O. Box 332, Fairview, OK 73737, to Saron Mennonite Church Building Fund.
