Saron Cemetery


ENID - The funeral for Anne Elver will be held today at 9:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Enid with the Rev. Dan Barrick officiating. Burial will follow at Saron Mennonite Cemetery near Orienta. Arrangements are entrusted to Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena. Visitation, with the family present, was held at First Assembly of God on Monday, August 1, 2005 from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Memories may be shared with the family by going to www.lanmanfuneralhomes.com and clicking on the Ultimate Tributes icon.

Anne Hardy Elver of Enid was born on April 29, 1942 in Newport News, Virginia to Herald Emerson and Myrtle Dishman Hardy. She died at her home on Saturday, July 30, 2005 after a battle with cancer. Anne and Harry A. Elver, Jr. were married on September 3, 1960 in Newport News, Virginia. They began their family in Virginia and made their home in New York State and Oklahoma where they served Harry's pastorates.

Anne was a homemaker and stay at home mother, as well as a free-lance writer for Christian magazines and Sunday school literature. She earned a B.S. degree in Sociology in 1978 from Regents College, New York State University. She taught writing courses at several Oklahoma colleges and she also taught quilting classes.

She was a member of First Assembly of God, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Cherokee Strip Piecemakers Quilt Guild. She was an avid reader, enjoyed Christian fellowship, sewing, quilting, hand stitchery and crochet.

Anne is survived by her husband, Harry of Enid; her children, Harry A. Elver III and his wife, Debbie of Tucson, Arizona, Susan Weaver and her husband, Jeff of Carrollton, Texas and Ellen Lohrenz and her husband, Mike of Enid; her grandchildren, David and Jacob Elver, Amy and Kelly Weaver and Zac and Caitlin Lohrenz.

Anne was preceded in death by her father and brother.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love, who gave her and her family such kind support and care, with Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena acting as custodian of the fund.
