Elmer A. Veatch

The funeral for Elmer A. Veatch, 95, who died Tuesday afternoon at a local nursing home, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church in Ringwood. The Rev. Richard Whetsell will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, west of Meno, directed by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Veatch was born December 30, 1890 in Sedgwick County Kansas to Henry W. and Alice E. Keller Veatch. At the age of six, he moved with his parents to a homestead one mile east of Ringwood and attended rural school. On October 22, 1913, he and Mabel Fern Nash were married. They farmed west of Ringwood for 50 years before moving into the town of Ringwood.

Veatch served several years as substitute mail carrier out of the Ringwood Post Office and was a member of the Ringwood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Rena Mae Veatch Allen, Enid; two sons Laurence W. Veatch,Quiltman Arkansas and Eugene L. Veatch of Wichita Kansas; 8 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; a sister Bertha Doll of Ringwood; and a brother Ralph Veatch of Tulsa.

He was preceded in death by his wife Mabel, a grandson, two sisters and a brother.

Memorials in his name may be made to the Ringwood United Methodist Church with the church or funeral home serving as custodians of the funds

Mabel Fern Nash Veatch

Mabel Fern Nash was born February 10, 1891. She and Elmer A. Veatch were married October 22, 1913. They farmed west of Ringwood for 50 years before moving into the town of Ringwood. They were members of the Ringwood United Methodist Church.

To this union was born 3 children: daughter: Rena Mae Veatch Allen and sons Laurence W. Veatch and Eugene L. Veatch.
