Pleasant Hill Cemetery


The funeral for Harley Dean McCormick, 77, of Ringwood, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at the Ring-wood High School gymnasium, Ringwood. The Rev. Rich Redinger and Shorty Unruh will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Meno. Arrangements are by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

He was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Nash to Charles and Lura Griffith McCormick and died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at his home.

He graduated from Nash High School in 1949. He joined the Army in March 1951 and was stationed in Nierenberg, Germany. He was the sent to South Korea to serve as a medic. He was discharged in 1954. He then attended Wichita Technical College, Wichita, Kan., receiving a certification as an aircraft radio installation technician. He worked for Beech Aircraft.

He married Naoma Steen March 8, 1958, in Caldwell, Kan.

They moved to Wakita, where he worked for Thorn-hill-Gibson Oil Co. until 1964, when he moved to Ringwood.

He owned and operated the McCormick 66 station, until retiring in 1996. He later worked for Ringwood school system in maintenance until 2008.

Surviving are his wife, Naoma McCormick of the home; four children, Randy McCormick of Canadian, Texas, Kim Childs of Meno, Darla Adkisson of Ringwood and Tammy Van Meter of Fairview; one brother, Ossie McCormick; a twin sister, Hazel of Wichita; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six sisters, four brothers and one grandson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Fairview Home Health, Hospice Circle of Love or to a charity of donor’s choice.
