Lorene Engle Whiteneck

Funeral services for Lorene Engle Whiteneck, 81, of Enid, will be 10 A.M. Fri. June 26, 1998 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. Dwayne Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Meno, (OK) under the direction of Anderson-Burris Funeral Home.
She was born to Fred and Lena (Meier) Schweer on May 17, 1917 near Covington. She died June 23, 1998 at Integris Bass Baptist Hospital in Enid. She attended Lutheran parochial school and graduated from Covington High School in 1936. She married Walter G. Wyssmann on Aug. 3, 1941 at Covington. He died Dec. 14, 1941. On Dec. 11, 1947 she and Perry J. Whiteneck were married at Enid. They lived in the Aline-Ringwood area and also Lahoma. He died Sept. 6, 1977 and Lorene moved to Enid in 1987.
She was a homemaker for many years and enjoyed crafts and needlework. Lorene was employed at Western Union for 5 years. She served as coordinator for the RSVP Sr. Action group for 2 years and was a volunteer for RSVP & St. Mary's Mercy Hospital. As a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, she participated in LWML(Lutheran Womens Missionary League) and served with the Friendship Guild.
She is survived by her 3 children, Elaine Whiteneck of Ellinwood, KS; Don Whiteneck and his wife, Jean of Ringwood, OK and Keith Whiteneck and his wife, Debbie of Fairview, OK; 4 grandchildren Nathan Whiteneck of Alva, (OK); Leah Nelson of Douglas, OK; Andrew and Cassie Whiteneck of Fairview, OK; 3 sisters: Irene Gragert, Darlene Braley, and Esther Mittelstet, all of Enid; 2 brothers, Arnold Schweer and Herold Schweer, both of Covington.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands.
Memorial donations may be made to the Circle of Love Hospice, Redeemer Lutheran Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Cancer Division with the funeral home serving as custodian of funds.
