Pleasant Hill Cemetery


The funeral for Harvey Edward Krause, 83, of Ringwood, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at First Baptist Church, Ringwood. The Rev. Brian Frable will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Meno. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Visitation will be 1 to 6 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m.

He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Collinsville to John and Anna Ediger Krause and died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at his home.

Following high school graduation, he served with the Army from 1943 to 1945, receiving the Marksman Award. He also was awarded the Purple Heart, serving under Gen. Patton. He then attended Enid Business School.

He married Leona Hagen Nov. 6, 1953, in Enid. He was a firefighter for the Enid Fire Department, retiring in 1970. He also was an Enid mail carrier, retiring in 1987. They have lived in the Ringwood area for 25 years, where he was a member of First Baptist Church and delivered meals from Ringwood to Helena and Cherokee.

Surviving are his wife, Leona, of Ringwood; three children, Maria Vaverka of Hennessey, Jana McAlister of Nash and Debra Kretzschmar of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ringwood First Baptist Church.
