RINGWOOD — Funeral service for Lewis Milton Doll, 89, were held Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Faith Center Fellowship in Meno with Pastor Cody Anderson officiating. Burial was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Meno with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Helena.
Lewis was born one and one-half miles east of Ringwood to Michael Clement Doll and Bertha Mae Veatch Doll and passed from this life at Shawn Manor Nursing Home in Ponca City. He graduated from Ringwood High School in 1938 and later entered the U.S Army Air Corps. He married Mabel Rose Smith on August 18, 1944, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary before Mabel passed away.
Lewis was a farmer and worked for the U.S Postal Service. He worked his way up to become postmaster at Ringwood, retiring in 1991, accumulating a total of 50 years as a civil servant.
Lewis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ringwood, serving on the Elder Board and as treasurer for more than 50 years. As an elder he served as a commissioner to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A. which met in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in May 1958. Lewis sang in several quartets, the church choir and was song leader at church for many years. Lewis loved fixing anything that needed repair so that the item would become useful again.
Survivors include one son, Michael Doll and wife, Judy of Ringwood; one daughter, Margaret Smith of Ponca City and one daughter-in-law, Karen Doll Howard of Katy, Texas; six grandchildren, Shelly Jones of Sand Springs, Troy Smith and wife, Barbara of London, England, LaDonna Dennis of Enid, Jennifer Smith of Ringwood, Mindy Rutledge of Youngsville, Louisiana and Sarah James and husband, Phillip of Youngsville, Louisiana; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Rose Wolf and husband, Bill, of Edmond and Fern Rowley and husband, George, of Edmond; and one sister-in-law, Mergie Doll of Enid.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel; one son, David Doll; his parents; and one brother, Cecil Doll.
