Hope Evonne Porter died February 19, 2015 in Wanette at the age of 78 years 5 months 11 days. Gravesite services are scheduled for 12:00 PM, Monday, February 23, 2015 at Orion Cemetery close to Chester, Oklahoma under the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Hope was born September 8, 1936 in Enid, Oklahoma to Whit A. (Bud) and Maudie Stapleton Childers. She was raised in the Woodward/Alva area and attended school in Fairview. Hope married Wendal Porter in Purcell Oklahoma in 1983. They made their home in the Wanette area. Hope loved her cats dearly, as well as her goats. She enjoyed her chickens, fishing and taking walks, where she was generally escorted by at least 1 cat. Hope was an avid reader of thriller and horror books, and enjoyed listening to country music via LP’s and playing the organ. She was of the Methodist faith.

Hope is preceded in death by her parents, Whit A. (Bud) and Maudia Childers; siblings, James Irven Childers, Francis Aaron (Frank) Childers, Marian (Shorty) Childers; granddaughter, Christine Lynn Lockhart.

Survivors include her husband, Wendal Porter; daughter, Connie Lynn Eisenhour, Lorrie Sue Van-Gundy; sister, Kathleen Zehr; 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many other relatives and friends.
