Bertha E. Francis Bertha E Francis, 80, died unexpectedly Sept 21. Funeral services were Sept 24 in Gautier Memorial Auditorium at Ames with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Burial was in Ames Cemetery. Mrs. Francis was born Feb 14, 1900, near Effingham, Kan., and at the age of three moved with parents to the Ringwood area. She attended Oak Glade country school near Ringwood and on Feb 5, 1922 married John Francis. He died April 2, 1962.

The couple farmed south of Ringwood prior to moving Ames in 1948. Mrs. Francis was a member of the Ames Christian Church, War Mothers Club and the Home Demonstration Club at Ames. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lois Odle, Shawnee, and Mrs. J.C. (Mary) Maycumber, Winton, Calif.; two sons, Joe, Enid, and Earl Dean, Imperial Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Jesse Campbell, Ringwood and Charles Campbell, Dallas, Tex. Memorials may be made to the Ames Christian Church, Building Fund, with the funeral home or the church serving as custodian of the fund.
