New Hopedale Cemetery


Mrs. John P. (Mary) Unruh, 90, 301 S. Oakwood Rd., died Saturday afternoon in a local hospital following a period of ill health. Her service will be at 10 AM Wednesday in the Ringwood Presbyterian Church with Dr. Lewis Pattison, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hopedale Church Cemetery at Meno under the direction of Ladusau – Evans Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state at the church until service time with the casket remaining closed following the service.

Mrs. Unruh, the former Mary Jantz, and was born October 24, 1888, at Moundridge, Kansas. Her mother died when she was born, and she was raised by Mr. and Mrs. Henry J. Nightengale. Mrs. Nightengale was a cousin. In 1904, she was baptized in the Emmanuelle Mennonite Church of Moundridge, Kansas, the former Canton Mennonite Church organized October 1, 1875.

Mrs. Unruh moved to the Ringwood – Meno community March 15, 1905. She married John P. Unruh September 28, 1931, at Meno. He died July 19, 1961. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Ringwood.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. George (Jo) Littrell, Mendon, Missouri; three grandchildren; five great – grandchildren; and a daughter – in – law, Mrs. Perry (Arline) Unruh, of Enid.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and an infant son.

Memorials may be made to the Presbyterian Church of Ringwood with the funeral home serving as custodian.

Mrs. Littrell will be staying at the home of Willis Rush, 1202 W. York.
