New Hopedale Cemetery



Meno – Minnie Unruh, 92, died Tuesday. Services will be 10:30 AM Friday at the New Hopedale Mennonite Church with Pastor John Voth officiating. Burial will be at the New Hopedale Cemetery under the direction of the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home.

Unruh was born in Kansas on January 14, 1893, to Jacob A. and Elizabeth Schmidt Wedel. She moved to the Meno area with her parents. She married Jacob B. Unruh on January 14, 1912, in Meno. The couple lived in California, where her husband owned and operated and orchard. In 1917, they returned to Oklahoma and farmed in Meno. In 1924, they moved to Plains, Kansas, for 12 years and then returned to Meno. Her husband preceded her in death in 1977. She moved to Enid in 1979.

Unruh was a member of the New Hopedale Mennonite Church.

Survivors include a son, Elton Unruh, Enid; a daughter, Arleen Waggoner, Aurora, Colorado; a brother, Ben Wedel, Meno; two sisters, Anna Koehn, Meno and Lorane Schmidt, Greensburg, Kansas; four grandchildren, and 13 great – grandchildren.

Memorials in her name may be made to the New Hopedale Mennonite Church with the funeral home serving as custodians.
