June 24, 1931 - March 2, 2009

The memorial service for Keith DeWayne Decker, 77, formerly of Meno, will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009, at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno. His body was donated to science.

He was born June 24, 1931, in Texline, Texas, to Arthur and Lula Decker and died Monday, March 2, 2009, at Edgewood Rest Home, Omaha, Neb. He attended grade school in Meno and graduated from Oklahoma Bible Academy, Meno, in 1949. He then attended Grace Bible Institute, Omaha. He married Velda Friesen in 1953. He went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Neb., and Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, majoring in industrial arts. He began his teaching career at a high school in Davenport, Neb., and later in Etna, Calif and OBA in Enid. He later pastored Zoar Mennonite Church of Goltry for 13 years. While pastoring he worked as a roofer and build homes and structures in the Enid area. They retired to Holiday Island, Ark., in 1996.

Surviving are his wife, Velda, of Omaha; one son, Tim of Lancaster, Pa.; one daughter, Tammi of Omaha; one brother, Rocky of Meno; and five grandchildren.
