LARRY D. STILES

Funeral services for Larry D Stiles were held Wednesday morning September 7, 1960 in the Fairview Methodist Church with Rev. Hale Noble of Wakita Oklahoma officiating and the Rev. Leonard Cronin of Fairview Oklahoma officiating. Burial was held at Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of Ingram Funeral Home of Fairview, Oklahoma.

Larry was the 17 year old son of Harold E and Stella Mae Harman Stiles of Wakita and was one of the State’s four drowning victims over the Labor Day weekend. He was born in Fairview on February 22, 1943 and grew up in the Roscoe community. His family moved to Cherokee Oklahoma in 1952 and to Wakita in 1959. He drowned about 11:15 am September 5, 1960 at the Great Salt Plains Lake.

Survivors in addition to his parents include one brother Harold E Stiles Jr. of Wichita Kansas; five sisters: Mrs. Volney (Verla) Woodruff, Mrs. William (Phyllis) Neice, Mrs. Lois Joplin, Miss Dorothy Stiles all of Wichita, and Mrs. J. H. Howerton of Hamilton Texas. He was preceded in death by a sister Hazel Arlene Stiles Kirkpatrick on October 10, 1951.
