Velma Fyffe Reynolds Enid News & Eagle?
The funeral for Velma O. Reynolds of Enid were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday August 10, 2005 at Christian Church, Ames. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.
Velma was born to Charlie and Mytle Fyffe on November 3, 1912 and died Saturday August 6, 2005 at Greenbrier Nursing Center in Enid. She was born on a farm in rural Beaver County near the town of Knowles. She attended school at a country school near her home. The earlier part of her life was spent with family in Oklahoma and Colorado.
She was united in marriage to Murvin Reynolds on March 27, 1933 in Enid. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1986 and is also buried at the Ames Cemetery. They made their home near Ames on a farm until 1960 when they moved into town. She worked as a cook at the Ames Public school until she retired. She moved to the Greenbrier Nursing Home in 1997.
She is survived by her daughters - Bonnie Hammer of Medford Oklahoma, and Hazel Wheeler and her husband Leroy of Oolagah Oklahoma; four grandchildren - Bruce Hammer and wife Donna of Blackwell Oklahoma, Chuck Wheeler and wife Debi of Claremore Oklahoma, Beverly Woods and husband Mark of Choctaw Oklahoma, David Wheeler and wife Cathy of Owasso Oklahoma; eight great grandchildren - Travis Hammer and wife Tiffany of Norman Oklahoma,Heather Hammer of Stillwater Oklahoma, Kendra, Amy, and Kelsey Wheeler of Claremore, Nathaniel Wheeler of Owasso, Miles and Dabielle Woods of Choctaw; three great great granddaughters - Jordan and Kennedy Hammer, Norman and Haylee Hammer of Stillwater. She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and five sisters.
