JOHN FRANCIS, 60, of Ames died Monday afternoon in the Okeene hospital after an illness of several months. He was by trade a carpenter and stonemason who had lived in the Ames community for 20 years. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ames High School auditorium with burial to follow in the Ames Cemetery.

He was born in Caddo County near Ft. Cobb, and moved to the Ames locale after residing in the Ringwood community for some time. Francis was an active member of the Methodist Church and the IOOF of Ames.

Survivors include his widow Bertha of the home; two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Maycumber, Bermuda, and Mrs. Donald Wood, Ames; two sons, Joe of Enid and Earl Dean of the home; five sisters, Mrs. Daisy Walker, Union City, Mrs. Molly Barbey , Pixley, Calif, Mrs. Myrtle Teague, Visalia, Calif., Mrs. Edna Barbee, Tulsa, and Mrs. Laura Warthen of Shawnee; two brothers, Glenn of Carnegie and Bill of Midwest City; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Note from Jo Aguirre: It does not state it in the obituary but on the funeral card for him, it shows Rev. John H. Morgan and the Rev. Michael L. Beasley officiating. Henninger Allen Funeral Home of Enid was in charge of the arrangements.
