Joseph "Joe" Francis
Enid News and Eagle Published August 19, 1984The funeral for Joseph (Joe ) Francis, 59, will be at 10 a.m..Monday in the Henninger Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Kious of the Christian Union Church officiating . Burial will follow in the Ames Cemetery under the direction of Henninger Allen.
He was born June 19, 1925, south of Ringwood, to John and Bertha Campbell Francis. He attended schools in the Ringwood and Ames area. Following graduation, he entered the U.S.Navy in 1944 and served in the South Pacific as a cook aboard the USS Kenton. He married Deloris Stiles October 12, 1952, at Cleo Springs.
After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for Lewis Packing Co., Fairview and had been employed by Blooms Meat Market in Enid for the past 24 years as a meat cutter.
He was a member of the Enid IOOF Lodge 31 and was a past member of Ames IOOF and a member of the Enid VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Deloris, of the home; two sons, Carl Wayne Francis of Enid and John Ray Francis of the home; one daughter Mrs. Rick (JoDean) Collins of Enid; one brother, Earl Dean Francis of Imperial, Neb; two sisters, Mrs. J.C. (Mary Lee) Maycumber of Winton, Calif. and Mrs. Leland (Lois Mae) Holland of Shawnee; and four grandchildren.
