The funeral for Harley G. Dittmeyer, 79, of Ames, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 29, 2008, in Ames Church of Christ. Joe Duarte and John Sheffield, pastors, will officiate. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery. Arrangments are by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Meno to Lester and Hollis Miller Dittmeyer and died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at his home.
He graduated from Ames High School in 1947. He married Nellie Jo Reynolds June 10, 1950, in Ames, where they made their home. He farmed, retiring in 1977. He also was a deputy for Major County Sheriff’s Office and also Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation more than 10 years.
He was a member of Ames Church of Christ. He served on several boards in Ames including the water resources board. He was a member of Ames Lions Club and drove a bus for Ames Public Schools.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Jo of the home; two sons, Douglas Dittmeyer of Stillwater and Brent Dittmeyer of Enid; two daughters, Deanne Rikli of Enid and Staci Dittmeyer of Ames; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to first responders of Ames Fire Department.
