Ruby Irene DeHaas

Enid, OK — The funeral for Ruby Irene DeHaas, 86, of Ames, will be 10 a.m. today, Aug. 13, 2008, at Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Cody Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 12, 1921, northeast of Ames to Ira and Masel Hickman Fyffe and died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Fairview Fellowship Home.

She attended Forest Home Elementary School and graduated from Ames High School in 1939.

She worked in Enid until her marriage to Leon DeHaas May 24, 1943, in Conway, S.C. Following his discharge they lived on a farm northeast of Ames, later moving into Ames. They farmed, raised cattle, and did custom harvesting, retiring at age 62. She was a member of Ames American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are two daughters, Karen Barnes of Ames, and Sheila Bisel of Canon City, Colo.; one son, Daryl DeHaas of Ames; one brother, Ira J Fyffe of Meno; two sisters, Emma Rikli and Kathleen Reim, both of Enid; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Ames Volunteer Fire Department, Fairview Fellowship Home Giving Tree or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer division.
