April 19, 1939 - February 25, 2019

Billy Ted Harmon, age 79, took his last breath on this earth on February 25, 2019 and his next breath in the presence of his Savior. Ted was born to Rolos and Frankie (Ammons) Harmon at the Harmon Ranch south of Waynoka on April 19, 1939. Ted had many fond memories of his childhood and often told stories about his adventures with his brother and sisters, specifically one where he told his baby sister that she could fly! Ted attended school at Del Plain Elementary, Waynoka High School, and NWOSU before being drafted into the United States Army.

Ted served proudly in the (Big Red 1) 1st Infantry Division of the Army and was stationed in Germany where he patrolled the Berlin Wall. Ted never met a stranger, not even in Germany, and he found ways to visit with the German soldiers on the other side of the wall and trade goods with them. Ted served for two years before returning home to the love of his life, Marillyn.

Ted and Marillyn May (Olson) were united in marriage on July 20, 1963 at Waynoka and moved south of Bouse Junction to live before moving to the Harmon Ranch at Bouse Junction. They lived on the ranch for about ten years and then moved to Mooreland where they spent 42 wonderful years. In 2018, they moved to Morrison. Ted was a farmer, an oil field and gas line worker, and retired from Hodges Trucking after driving a semi many a mile. Ted was in the FFA, was President of the Waynoka Rattlesnake Club, and served on the Mooreland School Board for ten years.

Ted and Marillyn and their children, enjoyed life together as a family traveling and seeking adventure. Many special memories were made traveling across the United States. Their most cherished family vacation was in 2017, when the original Harmon Five traveled to South Dakota to attend Teds army reunion. Ted enjoyed family vacations, fireworks, waterparks, snake hunting, and even went zip lining at 71 years of age, just six months after open heart surgery. He collected antique tools and red, white, and blue ink pens. Ted was crazy about his grandchildren and did not have just one favorite, although they will all tell you it was them, truly it was whichever one was handy at the moment! Ted loved to listen to them play instruments or sing and often requested a song. He traveled many miles to watch golf tournaments, football, basketball, and baseball games and would be upset if he missed one!

Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Rolos and Frankie; daughter Vanessa Ann; brothers (Baby) Dewey and Stanley; and brother-in-laws Warren Bartlow and Duane Bartlow.

Ted is survived by wife Marillyn, of the home; daughter Angie (Harmon) Kizer and husband Charles, of Mooreland, and their children: Josh Kizer and wife Tammy, Jenzen Kizer and wife Chante, and Jozie Kizer; daughter Tasha (Harmon) Billingslea and husband Marshall, of Enid, and their children: Skyler, Alex, and Korbin Billingslea; and son Burton Ted Harmon and wife Audrey, of Morrison, and their children: Benjamin Ted, Aaron, and Jared Harmon. He also is survived by great grandchildren: Joshs daughter Horizon and Jenzens children Reagan, Allie, and Jack; sisters Joan Bartlow, Norma Bartlow, and Mary Lou Williams and husband Harold; sister-in-law Virginia Harmon; and a host of other loved nieces, nephews, and family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church in Mooreland. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the Liberty Cemetery, south of Bouse Junction.
