Father Phillip Anderson will officiate. Burial follows in Forrest Cemetery, Ringwood. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Terrye was born February 24, 1946 in Enid, to Marvin and Nikki (Rader) Newkirk, and passed away June 26, 2018, at her home in Hulbert. Terrye graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City, class of '64. She briefly attended OU before moving to California to pursue songwriting. There she met and married singer/songwriter Steve Young, and they had a son, Jubal. Eventually they relocated to Nashville, TN where she studied English and Journalism at UT Nashville. She then went on to graduate from Vanderbilt University, completing a Master's Degree in English Literature.

Terrye worked as reporter for The Tennessean and as an editor for Nashville Magazine. She taught English at Western Carolina University for two years before accepting a job in San Diego, CA, as an editor at Catholic Answers. Terrye then became a hermit at Clear Creek Monastery in Hulbert, Oklahoma, for a time. An accomplished writer, she wrote songs, poetry, prose and short stories. She loved a good-natured debate and was known for it on social media. Terrye was a devoted daughter, mother and grandmother.

Terrye is preceded in death by her father, Marvin Newkirk.

She is survived by her mother, Nikki Newkirk, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; her son, Jubal Lee Young, of Goodlettsville, TN; and granddaughter, Sophia Claire Young, of Goodlettsville, TN.
