Fern Cliff Cemetery


Funeral services for Leroy James Classen will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Orion Baptist Church, 19 miles west of Fairview. Burial will follow at Fern Cliff Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Leroy was born in the family home in Monark Springs, MO on July 18th, 1934. He was the first born child of Alferd and Martha Classen. He died on September 26th 2014.

He spent his childhood years on the family farm west of Fairview, OK with his parents and 4 sisters. Leroy graduated from Fairview High School in 1952. He attended OSU and graduated in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture. He married Wanda Davis of Guthrie, OK in June 1955. To this union were born 5 children, 1 daughter and 4 sons. They resided most of their married life in Arkansas and Georgia. He spent his life doing what he loved most, breeding, raising, and showing poultry. He has been credited with developing a new breed of chickens. Later in life he moved back to Oklahoma and resided at the family farm house west of Fairview. He married Lois Baldwin in January 2010.

He is survived by his wife Lois of the home, one daughter, LaDonna Howard of Edmond, OK, four sons; Linden Classen of Smyrna, GA, Johnny and Tina Classen of Hampton, GA, Jeff and Myra Classen of Douglasville, GA and Tim and Cheryl Classen of Fairview, OK, three stepchildren; Richard Martin, Randy Martin and Rhonda and Linden Maker, four sisters; Nina Kelly of Fairview, OK, Erona and George Cope of Shawnee, OK, Bula Smith of Shawnee, OK and Irene and Dewayne Cravens of Fairview, OK, eleven grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, first wife Wanda, two brothers-in-law, one daughter-in-law , Mary and a son-in-law, Roy.
