Fairview Cemetery


Funeral services for Agnes Evilyn Bell, 91, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Canton Christian Church with Steve Driskill officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Haigler-Pierce Funeral Home, Canton, OK.

Evilyn was born on a farm May 31, 1923 near Canton to Manuel and Agnes (Acre) Baker. She passed away February 28, 2015 at Fairview, OK. She grew up in the Canton-Longdale area attending Wildcat and Longdale Schools. On August 12, 1942, she married her forever love, William Aubry Bell. After marriage, they lived on a farm west of Longdale. Later they moved to Southard, then to Canton. Evilyn was a member of Canton Christian Church and also a member of the Busy Bee Club. She worked at Price's Laundry, Scotty's Cafe and Sportsman's Cafe where she made many long lasting friends. She had many requests for her delicious pies and cakes from friends as well as her family. She also worked 15 years at the Fairview Fellowship Home retiring from there as a Med Aid. She took care of her ailing husband in their home until his death February 16, 1991. She made many beautiful quilts and afghans that she shared with her grandchildren.

Evilyn was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two infant sisters.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Bell and wife Yvonne of Fairview, OK and Lawrence Bell and wife Judi of Aline, OK; grandchildren Evelyn LouAnn Scram and husband Russ, Bucky Bell and wife Helen, Casey Bell and wife Jamie, Cody Bell and wife Cortney and Dustin Bell and wife Jackie, Shane Helm and wife Donna, Jason Helm and wife Sandy and Lance Helm and wife Jill; 21 great- grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Baker and wife Lola of Longdale, OK and Clarence Baker of Branson, MO.

Memorials may be made to the Canton Christian Church or the Longdale Gym Association with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 36, Canton, OK 73724.
