Cleo Springs – Jack S. Thomas, 57, Cleo Springs, died early Saturday in an Oklahoma City hospital following a long period of ill health.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the United Methodist Church in Cleo Springs with the Rev. Charles Lynch officiating. Burial will be in the Cheyenne Valley Cemetery west of Orienta under the direction of Wentworth Mortuary in Carmen.

The body will lie in state from 1:00 to 1:45 PM in the church. The casket will not be opened after the service.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Memorial Fund of the Cleo Springs United Methodist Church.

He was born in Cleo Springs February 21, 1923. He attended Cleo Springs school and the University of Oklahoma. He joined the US Air Force in World War II and was a B-24 and B-29 instructor and pilot.

He married Pearl Holder Hein and they lived in Riverside, California, a number of years. She died in February 1972. He married the former Maxine Little and in 1973 they moved to Cleo Springs. At the time of his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, he was chief accountant

Thomas was a member of the Cleo Springs United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine, of the home; one daughter, Donna Rutherford, Perry; a son, John Hall Thomas, Brookings, Oregon; three sisters, Cleola Karns and Lydia Shaull, both Cleo Springs and Cecil Conaway of Waynoka; one brother, Robert A. Thomas, Orienta; and three grandchildren.
