For many years she attended the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne Valley until it closed and then she was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairview.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Lewis Byfield; brother Virgil Chance and wife Gladys of Wisconsin; daughter Susan Root and husband Eddy of Enid; son Mark and wife Tricia of Fairview; Grandchildren, Megan Pickens and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City, Gregory Pekrul and wife Jenni of Enid, Brandi Price and husband Tim of Oklahoma City, Jessica Pitts and husband Joshua of Enid, Bryan Root and wife Caitlyn of Enid, Jacqulyn Byfield of Fairview and Rhylee Joe Starks of Oklahoma City; plus 13 great-grandchildren.
