Thomas H. woods, was born in Ill. June 9, 1858, died at the home of E. H. Ball at Fairbanks, August 27, 1916, age 58 years , 2 months & 18 days. He settled in Bishop township, Major co., Oklahoma in the fall of 1893 where he resided until his death.
On January 13, 1902, he was married to Miss Rosetta Ball who died July 4, 1909. to them were born four children, three of who survive him. One boy, Thomas, died in infancy. Raymond & Teddy have both been provided with good homes, Teddy with E. H. Ball & Raymond with George Ball. Lois, the little girl, had already been adopted by her uncle D. C. Ball.
Mr. Woods was a victim of the "white plague" consumption but bore his suffering with Christian grace & fortitude. He was member of the Christian Church and his faith in the resurrection and happiness in eternity was a comfort to him during the trials and suffering of his lingering illness.
Funeral services were held at Chester schoolhouse August 28, conducted by Rev. J. C. shuck. The house was crowded full to overflowing with relatives & friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Chester cemetery by the side of his wife and infant son.
