Funeral services for James Mitchell Nightingale, 36, of Fairview, will be 10:30a.m., Monday, April 9, 2018 at the Church of God In Christ Mennonite. Reverend Dale Becker will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

James Mitchell Nightingale, the son of Roy Dean and Kathleen Becker Nightingale, was born July 28, 1981. He passed away April 5, 2018 from complications of diabetes at St Mary’s Hospital, Enid, Oklahoma, reaching the age of 36 years.

He grew to adulthood with his parents and brother and sister on the family farm west of Fairview Oklahoma. During these years he enjoyed working with cattle, bottle feeding calves, and the many things that life on a farm held for a boy. His school years where spent at Cedar Christian School. Upon graduating from school, he worked with his father in the ceramic tile business.

He was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on May 18, 1997 by Minister Loyd Nightingale.

A special time in his life came when he lived at Moundridge Kansas with his uncle and aunt, Howard and Myrtle Becker. Here he learned woodworking skills in his uncle’s cabinet shop. He enjoyed the times spent singing and associating with the Moundridge youth. After he worked for his uncle he spent some time building log cabins. All his life he enjoyed working and toying with vehicles.

He was married to Debra Unruh, on December 2, 2002, at McPherson, Kansas. One son, Carl Dean, was born to James and Debbie. James enjoyed spending time with Carl, who was very special to him and meant a lot to him.

When he moved back to Oklahoma he worked in the oil field and especially enjoyed driving the mud truck. He also enjoyed very much working for a farmer in the area where he lived.

Due to health problems from diabetes he moved to the nursing home in Fairview in 2017. James made it a special mission of his to talk with people and the residents enjoyed visiting with him. His nephews and nieces were very special to him.

Not long before his passing he shared a special experience. The week before his passing his wife, mom, sister and son visited him. It was a special time spent together. With Carl sitting on his lap, James shared his experience of the touch from the Lord. It was especially meaningful to see that he was at rest and felt that “blessed assurance” that all was well. We are comforted at his passing and thankful that he left us with a clear testimony of peace.

Left to cherish fond memories is his wife Debra, son Carl Dean, his mother, Kathy Nightingale, all of Fairview Oklahoma, brother Charles and Molly Nightingale, Madrid Nebraska, sister Bonnie Nightingale, Fairview Oklahoma, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Roy Dean, his grandparents, one uncle and his father-in-law.
