Dayton D. BECKER

Cedar Cemetery

Our dear husband and father, Dayton Dale Becker, was born February 20,1926, to Fred and Amanda Johnson Becker near Galva, Kansas. He quietly and peacefully departed this life on January 3, 1979, in the Halstead Hospital, at Halstead, Kansas, reaching the age of 52 years, 10 months, and 14 days. Death resulted from heart failure and complications.

Father went to school and grew to manhood in McPherson County. Here also at about the age of twelve, he heeded the call of the Lord, was converted, and found forgiveness of sins. On January 24, 1938, he was baptized and united with the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, by the late Min. Frank H. Wenger.

On June 8, 1947, he was united in marriage to me, Velma Smith, from Fairview, Oklahoma. To this union one son and one daughter were born. We shared the joys and sorrows of life together for thirty-two years.

Father enjoyed reasonable good health most of his life. He was of a quiet and kindly disposition, unselfish, and always concerned for the family's welfare. He enjoyed traveling, and as a family, we have pleasant memories of trips to different places. He also enjoyed singing and attended church services regularly.

Though there were many struggles in his life, and at times things that were hard for him to understand, he had a way of exercising patience and perseverance. We have a hope that God, in His great mercy, reached down with pardon and took him home.

Father is survived by me, his sorrowing wife; one son, Vincent and wife Naomi of Surprise, Arizona; one daughter, Pamela and husband Stephen McCullough of Wichita, Kansas; his father, Fred P. Becker of Moundridge, Kansas; four brothers: Lawrence of Moundridge; Chester of San Luis Obispo, California; Maynard of McPherson; and Eugene of Butte, Montana; six sisters: Zelma Koehn of Moundridge, Kansas; Elizabeth Koehn of Lehigh; Phyllis Koehn of Burns, Kansas; Bertha Wedel of Canton; Verbie Heppner of Scio, Oregon; and Joan Unruh of Bancroft, South Dakota; also a host of relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his mother and one sister.

Funeral services were held in the Lone Tree Mennonite Church, January 6, 1979, with Ministers Roger Unruh and Harry Wenger .officiating. Interment was in the Cedar. Cemetery, Fairview, Oklahoma, January 7, 1979, with Min. Elmer Boehs officiating.
