Funeral services for Victor E. Laubhan, 88, of Ames, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, 2008, at Ames Church of Christ with John Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. today, May 28, 2008, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Allen Funeral Home.

Victor was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Drummond, the son of Conrad and Matilda Laubhan and died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at his home. He graduated from Ames High School and volunteered for the U.S. Army Air Forces and served four years during World War II.

He married Eilena Sloan Oct. 14, 1944, in Ames, OK. Victor operated a family farm west of Ames and served on the Ames School Board as well as the Alva Bible Chair Board. He was a member of Ames Church of Christ.

Surviving him are his wife, Eilena, of the home; one son, Roger Laubhan and his wife Brenda of Edmond; three daughters, Christy Sheffield and her husband John of Ames, Sharon Van Arsdale and her husband Robert of Harrisburg, MO, and Vickie Tuohy and her husband Shawn of Waukomis; one brother, Raymond Laubhan and his wife Velma Lee of Norman; one sister, Pauline Laubhan of Enid; nine grandchildren, Matthew Sheffield, Amy Martin, Celia Lightsey, Joshua Laubhan, Katy Van Arsdale, Robby Van Arsdale, Philip Van Arsdale, Hannah Tuohy and Darcy Tuohy; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Henninger-Allen Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund.

The funeral for Eilena Joy Laubhan, 89, of Ames, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at Ames Church of Christ with John Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery. Service is under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 5:30-7 p.m. today, February 27, 2010, at the funeral home.

Eilena was born Jan. 6, 1921, near Ames to William Maurice and Celia Jessie Sloan “Graves” and died Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid. She graduated from Ames High School in 1939 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Phillips University and a master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma.

She married Victor E. Laubhan Oct. 14, 1944. They worked together farming, raising cattle and truck gardening. Eilena taught school at Cimarron Valley and Ames Public School. She was a member of Ames Church of Christ and became an avid and accomplished quilter, completing over 150 quilts, nearly all of which she gave away.

Surviving are three daughters, Christy Sheffield of Ames, Sharon Van Arsdale of Harrisburg, Mo., and Vickie Tuohy of Waukomis; one son, Roger Laubhan of Edmond; as well as nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love or Ames Church of Christ.
