JAMES WESLEY "J.W." CARLILE

Services for James Wesley “J.W.” Carlile, 86, of Wilson were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 3, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Sherry Kendrick officiating. Interment followed at Simon Cemetery south of Wilson.
Born February 13, 1924 at Pike, the son of Wheeler L. Carlile and Bonnie I. Walker Carlile, he died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Ardmore.
J.W. Was raised south of Wilson, attending school at Orr. He married the former Ms. Alma Barnes on August 22, 1942 at the Love and Carter County line. To this union came a daughter and three sons. She preceded him in death on November 20, 1980. He later married the former Betty Hodges at Wilson on September 26, 1981. She too preceded him in death on September 18, 1996. He then married his present wife, former Mrs. Glenna Bell on January 17, 1998 at Bowie, Texas.
J.W. Worked all of his working years in the oilfield, retiring from Occidental Petroleum Corporation in 1989 as an oilfield pumper. In his retirement he enjoyed writing songs and poetry. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He attended the First United Methodist Church of Wilson.
In addition to his first and second spouses, also preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Lavoy and James; three brothers, Alvin, Jiggs and Cleatis; and a sister, Rachel Cox.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna of the home; a daughter, Yvetta King of Healdton; a son, W.M. Carlile and wife, Cora of Hennessey; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Lawanda Garrison of Pilot Point, Texas, Pearl Hilton and Nancy Cothran and husband, Gearld, all of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Bowie Carlile of Leon; numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Pallbearers were Jerry Hicks, Terry Hicks, Pete Carlile, Alan Barnes, Keith Barnes and Don Buck. Honorary bearers were Jim Barnes, Don Wallace, Bowie Carlile, Wilton Allen and Darwin Allen.
This obituary included a picture of Mr. Carlile.
