Services for Jewelle Edna Love Lake, 79, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 23, in the Griffin Funeral Home Chapel, Ardmore, with the Rev. Dwight Edwards and Lawrence Hallum officiating.
Mrs. Lake was born January 12, 1923, at the family farm near Old Charleston in northeast Harper County, the daughter of Alfred and Leona Love. She died December 19, 2002.
The family moved to Laverne when she was five years old and in the first grade. Mrs. Lake graduated as the salutatorian of her high school class. She and Everett Walter Lake were married on June 2, 1940. They lived in Harper County until 1972. Mrs. Lake worked in town and was involved in church and various mission projects. She worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in Buffalo, Oklahoma City, Ada and Duncan.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Everett Lake; four sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Lake of Marietta, Wayne and Frances Lake and Kenneth and Jane Lake of Ardmore and John V. and LeeAnn Cox of Sapulpa; four granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Wallecia and Vic Gibson, Carey and Shawn Welden, Jennifer and Shane Kinsworthy and Chelsea Lake; five grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Chad and Teresa Lake, Cody Lake, Kevin Lake, Matthew Cox and Justin Cox; and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Gibson, Patrick Gibson, Kathryn Gibson, Brayden Lake and Riley Lake.
Mrs. Lake was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Casey Lake; and her brother and sisters.
Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore, under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home-Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore.
