Graveside services for Evelyn Lemons, 96, of Sherman, Texas, were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, with the Rev. James Putman officiating.
Mrs. Lemons was born August 14, 1904, in Indian Territory, the daughter of John and Dona McBee Wright. She died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, in the I.H.S. Nursing Home of Texoma at Sherman.
She was a homemaker and had made her home in Sherman for the past 10 years. She was an accomplished creative writer, especially of poetry. Mrs. Lemons was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Jump of Lakewood, Washington, and Wesley Lemons of Sherman; two stepsons, Tom Lemons of Marietta and Ray Lemons of Warwick, New York; three stepdaughters, Shirley Carter of Marietta, Fay Mileur of Sadler, Texas, and Joan Jacobs of Vidor, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lemons was preceded in death by her first husband, John Jump, in 1931; her second husband, James C. Lemons, on October 2, 1974; a daughter, Jurhee Delgado; two sons, Charles Jump and James Jump; three brothers and two sisters.
Services were under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
