Mary Thelma Northcutt Hull. Services for Mary Thelma "Ike" Hull, 88, of Ardmore, were held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, in the Eastside Baptist Church in Marietta, with the Rev. Roy Vinson officiating.
Mrs. Hull was born January 6, 1919, in Loves Valley, the daughter of Joseph Marvin "Bish" and Mary Comelia Williams Northcutt. She died Friday, April 27, 2001, in the Western Hills Residential Care Center in Ardmore.
She grew up in Love County, graduating from Burneyville High School. She and Frank Hull were married February 11, 1931, at Leon, by W.H. Mapp, minister of the Baptist Church. The couple settled at Oswalt, where Mrs. Hull became postmaster and her husband farmed and worked in the oil fields. Their three children were born at Oswalt. In 1945 the family moved near Wapanucka in Johnston County where they raised alfalfa and cattle. Later they became owners and operators of the grocery and feed store at the Bromide Y.
In 1950 the family moved to Jimtown, and Mr. & Mrs. Hull became owners and operators of the Jimtown Store. They operated the store from daylight till dark, until Frank's death in 1982. Mrs. Hull continued to live at Jimtown until 1996, when she moved to Ardmore into an Independent Living and Residential Care Facility. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and making
ceramics. Mrs. Hull was a member of the Jimtown Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Nell Hull of Plano, Texas, and Wesley and Jeanette Hull of Ardmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynnita and Archelowe Terrill of Jimtown; a brother and sister-in-law, Billy Wayne and Mary Lee Northcutt of San Diego, California; a sister, Frances Joy Ladner of Plano; nine grandchildren and 19
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hull was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Evelyn Gertrude Routt, Ruby Jo McCage and Dianna Christene Northcutt; and a brother, Marvin Andrew "Bud" Northcutt.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren and honorary pallbearers were the staff of Western Hills Senior Care Center.
Interment was in Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
