Services for Vernie Edith Hodges Doughty, 82, were October 6 in the Marysville Community Church with the Rev. Aubry Spires, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Doughty was born August 27, 1911, at Burneyville, and died October 4, 1993, at her home at Marysville. She was the daughter of the late John Sheldon and Minnie Mae Clark Hodges.

She married Joe Doughty August 10, 1930, in Marysville. Mrs. Doughty was a homemaker and attended the Marysville Community Church.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Doughty of the home at Marysville; four sons, John Weldon Doughty of Gainesville, Texas, Douglas E. Doughty of Valley View, Texas, Jimmy Doughty of Marysville and Wayne Doughty of Keller, Texas; a brother, Fred Hodges of Moore; two sisters, Josie Hallum of Burneyville and Johnnie Corn of Marietta; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mrs. Doughty was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Sheldon Doughty and Eugene Glen Doughty; and three brothers, Ira Hodges, Ben Hodges and Lowell Hodges.

Interment was in the Marysville Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home, Muenster, Texas.
