Graveside services for Vera Flanagan Cole, 87, of Mannsville, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 2, at Lakeview Cemetery, in Marietta with Bro. Bob Hector officiating.

Mrs. Cole was born December 7, 1912, at Seymour, Texas, the daughter of Edd and Minnie Kate Underwood Johnson. She died Sunday, July 30, 2000 in Southbrook Healthcare Facility, Ardmore.

She had been a resident of Love County most of her life. She and Ralph Flanagan were married April 28, 1928, and he preceded her in death on August 16, 1974. She then married Jim Cole on June 30, 1978, and he preceded her in death on October 12, 1994. Mrs. Cole was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Johnston County Memorial Hospital in Tishomingo for 21 years. She enjoyed gardening. Mrs. Cole was a member of the Marietta Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Merle Flanagan of Ardmore; one stepson, Jim Cole of Windsor, California; one stepdaughter, Jean Hohn of Somerset, California; one sister, Ruth Flanagan of Marietta; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cole was also preceded in death by two brothers.

Services were under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Tipton Children's Home or Cross Timbers Hospice, c/o Kennedy Funeral Home.
