Graveside services for Avis Fife Bradford, 98, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta, with the Rev. Tommy Higle as the officiating minister.
Mrs. Bradford died Monday morning, March 26, 2001, at the Carriage House Manor Nursing Home in Sulphur Springs.
The daughter of Joseph Andrew and Ila Middlebrooks Fife, she was born in Ladonia, Texas, on June 8, 1902, and moved with her family at an early age to Sanger, Texas, where she graduated from Sanger High School.
She and William E. Bradford Sr. were married on December 28, 1919, in Sanger and lived most of their married life in Waxahachie, Texas. They moved to Sulphur Springs in 1994, and he preceded her in death after 75 years of marriage on December 31, 1994.
Mrs. Bradford was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie, where she and her husband were both actively involved in the work of the church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, William E. (Bill) Bradford Jr. and Patsy of Sulphur Springs; two sisters, Virgie Dillard of Waskom, Texas, and Wilma Choate of Marietta; three grandchildren and their spouses, Mark and DeAnne Bradford of Bedford, Texas, Kerry and Allan Gillan of Plano, Texas, and Kelly and Dwayne Grimes of Sulphur Springs; three great-grandchildren, Andy and Julianne Bradford of Bedford and Kerry Grimes of Sulphur Springs; two sisters- in-law, Myra Land of Liberty, Texas, and Willie Bradford of Seven Points, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a five-year-old son, Joe Frank Bradford, and a brother, Benjamin Floyd Fife.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Tapp Funeral Home of Sulphur Springs.
