A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 24, 2004, at 2:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 1285 South 13th Street, Grover Beach, CA for Coy Ray Fowler, 71, who passed away Sunday, April 18, at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Beverly Hills, CA after a bout with cancer. The service will be conducted by V. R. Bispo of Tehachapi, CA.

Coy was born on November 27, 1932 in Leon, Oklahoma to Charlie and Hattie Fowler. From the time he was a boy, he was determined to do things in a big way! Coy joined the Army when he was 17 years old. He came to California upon being honorably discharged from the Army after serving during the Korean War. Coy served in Korea in the Signal Corps in a highly classified assignment: coding and decoding cryptography in order to set battle lines for the day. This information was then sent to the front line.

Upon being discharged in September 1953, Coy came to Lamont, California. He met his future wife, Delores Sams, two weeks later. Coy and Delores were married on March 27, 1954.

Coy began working for Jack Davenport Typewriter Company in Bakersfield as a typewriter repair technician. Soon he established his own Office Machine company which he operated for many years.

In 1969 Coy partnered with Turk Darehshori to form Sierra Copy Systems, Inc. Coy had a great love of country music. He partnered to establish a music recording business, The Sound of Bakersfield.

Coy later obtained his Real Estate Brokers license, specializing in Reat Estate Exchanging and Creative Financing. He established Associated Realty, Inc. and Associated Financial, Inc. in Bakersfield, offering an array of financial services. Coy was a member of and served on the Bakersfield Board of Realtors, Coy had a strong character and work ethic. He was an excellent problem solver! He believed in Win: Win business relationships, or "Benefit for benefit!" as he would say. He will long be remembered as a respected member of the Bakersfield business community.

In 1985 Coy and Delores moved to Pismo Beach where he soon established himself in the Central Coast business community. He developed a plan and led the residents to purchase the Pismo Beach Mobile Home Park.

In his leisure time Coy enjoyed boating, camping and traveling. But he loved flying the most! After obtaining his flying license he went on to become a flight instructor. Coy also enjoyed writing poetry, even publishing a book that documents his life experiences. Admittedly, Coy was a man of many talents.

While Coy was an accomplished business man, he will be remembered most as a genuinely wise and loving Christian man. Coy dedicated his life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Christian Witnesses on October 19, 1963.

Coy was a loving, faithful husband and devoted father. Coy could always be counted on to listen without bias and give sound advise. He and Delores nurtured a close, warm family relationship with their children and their extended family.

Coy had a wonderful sense of humor. People remember how this helped him to meet life's challenges and to help others apply the Bible in their own daily lives. He firmly believed in the hope of resurrection on a restored earthly paradise under the rule of Jesus Christ as taught in the Bible. It is our determination as a family to remain faithful to Jehovah so as to live through the end of this system of things. If God wills, and welcomes Coy back to life to God's new order under his Kingdom arrangement.

Coy is survived by his wife, Delores, his children, Ron Fowler and his wife, Nina of Tehachapi; Patty Munoz and her husband, Frank of Tehachapi and Robyn Kandel of Las Vegas; his grandchildren, Jeremy, Christina, Jaden, Cashara, Jared, Destini, Dustin, Megan and Brittany; his great grandchildren, Sky, Delaney and Gavin; his sisters, Hazel Miller and Norma Price; and his brothers, Valton and Wayne Fowler.
