Services for Kathleen Draughon Roberts, 89, of Marietta, were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 25 in Marietta’s First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Hilton officiating.

Interment followed in Lakeview Cemetery, Marietta.

Born December 15, 1921 in Marietta, the daughter of Douglas Johnson and Iris Belle Autry Burney, she died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. A resident of Love County all of her life, Mrs. Roberts was a draft board administrator and also worked as a nurse for Dr. Tom O’Connor and Dr. Vergil Smith. She was an accomplished pianist, playing for school plays and other activities throughout the community. Mrs. Roberts also enjoyed playing bridge, knitting and raising dogs. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta. Following the death of her first husband, Henry Eaton Draughon, Jr. in 1976, she and James Taylor Roberts were married on August 16, 1981. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1997.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and a brother, Richard Douglas Burney.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Tim Tims of Chickasha and JoEllen and Steve Clifton of Houston; three grandchildren, DeDe Boaz, Katie Clifton and Chris Clifton; four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Faith, Kelly and Paul; and special caretaker, Lana Terrell.

Serving as pallbearers were Steve Clifton, Chris Clifton, Jon Boaz, Joe Bell, David Bell, Austin Bell and Andrew Boaz. Honorary bearers were Tim Tims, Ken Delashaw, Dr. Vergil Smith, Jeannie Voyles, John Brannan, Lana Terrell and Mary Shellenberger.
