A memorial service for Claude Ray Davis, 71, of Marietta, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ray Hilliard officiating.
Mr. Davis was born July 20, 1929, in Cedar Bluff, Alabama, the son of Forest Norton "Slim" and Maggie Lee Bone Davis. He died Saturday, October 14, 2000, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta.
He had been a resident of Love County most of his life. Mr. Davis served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1954 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired after 28 years with Boeing, working in quality control in the engineering department. Mr. Davis was a graduate of Oklahoma City University and a member of the Burch Brothers Post of the American Legion in Marietta. He was of the Church of Christ faith.
Survivors include one son, David Ray Davis of Cocoa, Florida; two daughters, Jeanne Proferes of Cocoa, Florida and Kathy Maughn of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida; one brother, Troy Davis of Marietta; two sisters, Maudine Springs of Gainesville, Texas, and Janette Shaw of Canyon, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Bill Davis, on January 27, 1999.
Honorary pallbearers were Claude Brannan, Gene Shepard and Ken Crozier.
Interment was in the Lakeview Cemetery, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Tipton Children's Home, c/o Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.
