Services for Oneita Ashby, 90, of Ardmore were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17 in the Eastman Baptist Church, Eastman Community with Rev. Ryan Redwine officiating.

Interment followed in the Eastman Cemetery.

Born July 4, 1921 in Denison, Texas, the daughter of Clyde and Ouida Hopkins Daniel, she died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta. Mrs. Ashby had made her home in Love County before moving to Ardmore in 2003. She and William J. Ashby were married in Grants Pass, Oregon on April 5, 1953, and he preceded her in death on September 25, 2002. Mrs. Ashby was employed as the gift shop manager at Lake Murray Lodge for 15 years. She was a member of the Eastman Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her parents; a son, Ronald Black; four sisters, a brother and great-granddaughter.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Black of Ardmore and Kem and Marlene Ashby of Roseville, California; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Shirley Daniel of Santa Paula, California; a sister, Elaine Yount of Concord, North Carolina; five granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Black, Kem Ashby, Greg Hawkins, Bub Williams, Robert Dale Williams and Mike Ayers. Honorary bearers were Larry Moody, Thomas Berryhill, Buford Rackley and Taylor Goldsmith.
