Sarah Samanthe Williams Hornbeak was born February 27, 1924, to Robert and Fannie (Johnson) Williams in Colbert, OK, via Midwife Mrs. Wright. She passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, just a few months shy of her 100th birthday.

Sarah was blessed to live in Colbert until the age of five years and moved to Ardmore, OK with her parents and siblings; Robert Jr. Williams, Walter Williams, Wesley Williams, Warren “Hardy” Williams, Willard Williams, Mary Jane Williams, Lillian Williams, and Viola Williams.

Living in Ardmore, God had a plan in the midst when she met Luther Hornbeak and was blessed with four children: Ronnie Luther Hornbeak, James Luther Hornbeak, Dennie Luther Hornbeak (Barbara), and daughter Gwenda Hornbeak-Kemp (Charley); and the seeds in which were planted became fruitful with more blessings of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

Sarah received her highest level of education at the 9th grade level; although she had many occupations and was very useful with her hands, from cooking to pulling cotton, cutting wood, quilting, shaking peanuts, stripping sugar cane, and later retiring from the Marietta Pants Factory.

Sarah attended the Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church with her favorite Bible scripture Psalms 23 and favorite song “May the Work I’ve Done Speak for Me”. Sarah, although to her grandchildren called “Mamo”, would always say her greatest accomplishment is her family and the seeds that have been produced.

Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Luther Hornbeak; son Ronnie Hornbeak; granddaughter LaDeana Williams-Webb; and a grandson Rondre Hornbeak.

Sarah leaves behind lots of love for her family, nieces, nephews, and friends and her “Boys”, Frankie Lornes, Charles Willis, James Coleman, and Anthony Brown.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Eugene Bellard, Michael Richards and Lawrence Anderson officiating.
