Services for Leona "Helen" Anderson, 70, of Marietta, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, in the First Baptist Church, Marietta, with Pastor Lawrence Anderson officiating. Tribute services were held at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, at the New Zion Baptist Church, Marietta.

Mrs. Anderson was born December 8, 1930, in Burneyville, the daughter of Clarence and Minnie L. Jenkins Anderson. She died Monday, September 10, 2001, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore.
Mrs. Anderson had been a resident of Love County all of her life. She attended Dunbar School at Burneyville then Douglass School in Marietta. Mrs. Anderson was a machine operator at Marietta Sportswear and retired after many years of employment. She was also a caretaker of the elderly. Mrs. Anderson was a lifelong usher and WMU member at the New Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Milton "Bo" and Doris Dailey and Lawrence and Peggy Anderson of Marietta, Willie and Patsy Anderson of Midwest City and Chris and Donna Anderson of Norman; two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia Kelley of Midwest City and Yvonne and Henry Giles of Dallas, Texas; five sisters, Willie Woodson and Maxine Brown of Dallas, Marqueta Gaines of Burneyville, Mae Lois Fuller of Ardmore and Billie Glover of Spencer; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Teresa Anderson; a son, Bobby Anderson; two sisters, Ella Anderson and Clearice King; and six brothers, Thomas Anderson, Harding Anderson, Rhea Anderson, Alchester Anderson, Clarence Anderson Jr. and Truman Anderson.

Serving as pallbearers were Kim Kelley, Lewis Jones, Bryan Dailey, Reggie Anderson, Larry Gaines and Roy Gaines.

Honorary pallbearers were the Rev. Kenneth Franklin, Bro. Ninevah Franklin, James M. Franklin, the Rev. Charles Franklin, Tim Milo, Verl LeFlore, Donald Fuller and Steve Fuller. Flower girls were Monesha Dailey, Lashelle Halstied, Liz Milo, Wilnesha Anderson, Jeanna Washington, Deanna Davis, Marneta Dorsey, Debbie Gaines and Lula Finch.

Interment was in Dunbar Cemetery, Marietta, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
