Graveside services for Irene Mims, 88, of Crescent were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Crescent. Interment followed under the direction of Abernathy Funeral Home in Crescent.
Irene was born Feb. 15, 1914 in Crescent to Alvin Frazier and Mamie Nesbitt. She died Jan. 23, 2003 in Crescent.
She married George Crawford in 1933; the marriage lasted briefly. In 1946, she married Clarence Brame. He preceded her in death. Later she married Virgil Steele, who also preceded in her death. In 1988, she married W. D. Mims. They lived in Oklahoma City and he pastored Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church before he preceded her in death. Irene then moved back to Crescent to live with her sister Hazel Brinker.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Oklahoma City and was very devoted to that church.
