Myrl Vivian Lundy Carey, of Guthrie, OK, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in Edmond, OK.

The relatives and friends of Myrl Vivian Carey are invited to attend the graveside funeral services at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Summit View Cemetery with Revered Dan Curtis of Meridian Community Church officiating. A Celebration of Life reception will be held in Mrs. Carey’s home after the service.

Mrs. Carey was born on June 30, 1915 in Waterloo, OK, the daughter of the late Billy E. Lundy and Ethyl E. (White) Lundy. She is preceded in death by an infant sister and three brothers. She was married to the late Fred Victor Carey for 59 years. Mrs. Carey lived in the Abell community for 72 years and has resided with her daughter Jane Andrews since January 2010. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those who knew and loved her as Nana and Mama Myrl. The lives she touched with love and cookies are too many to remember. Some will remember her glorious flower garden viewed from Highway N. 77, many were gifted with bouquets of those flowers.

She was a charter member of the Abell HCE Club in 1941 and served as president from 1991-1994 and again in 2002. She often represented the club as a blue ribbon winner at the Logan County Fair. She was an active participant with Logan County 4-H Clubs and hosted the South Carolina delegation to the National 4-H Leaders Convention in Oklahoma in 2004. Over the years, Mrs. Carey baked many dozens of cookies for the Lunch on Noble program and spent many days as a volunteer at Camp Joy in the Abell community.

Surviving are three daughters, Judith Carey Beery and her husband, James R. Berry of Summerville, SC; Jane Carey Andrews and her husband, Glen A. Andrews of Edmond; and Fredda Carey Stewart and her husband, Herby L. Stewart of Guthrie, OK; a son, Joseph E. Carey and his wife, Ann Brentlinger Carey of Guthrie; seven grandchildren, Shannon B. Herndon and her husband Henry, Chris Beery, Arron Stewart and his wife Deanna, Lawrie S. Lemons, Darren Andrews and his wife Julie, Sean Carey and his wife Molly, and Crystal Carey; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons, James Maxell Carey and William Earl Carey.

Memorials may be made to the hospice of your choice or Camp Joy in the Abell community.

Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
